Our History

Dave and Hiroko are excited to share the commitment they have to Christ's Great Commission through their testimony of God’s work of grace in their lives. They began their Christian journeys from different countries but ended up on the same road.

Dave

I began my walk in Christ with The Navigators Military ministry on the island of Okinawa, Japan while serving in the US Marine Corps. In 1981 after being discharged from the Marines, the Lord led me to continue with The Navigators for training. I then moved to Tacoma, Washington and helped develop Fort Lewis singles’ ministry for four years. In 1986 I came on staff with The Navigators and received an overseas assignment to Yokota Air Force Base, Japan. This is where I met Hiroko at the base chaplain’s office and our lives changed forever. In 1988 I moved to Camp Pendleton where I began a discipleship work with Marines and Sailors. Hiroko and I got married in January, 1989.

Hiroko

I Hiroko, was born in Aichi, Japan. I fell in love with the English language and was determined to learn it. One day I met a missionary from Canada who wanted to learn the koto, a musical instrument. After a two and half year relationship, she led me to Christ. My life was turned upside down. Rejected by my family members, I went to Canada to further my English studies. Later I returned to Japan to help my mother. I began to teach missionaries Japanese language. One missionary couple helped me get a job at Yokota Air Force Base. This is where God started to deepen my walk with Christ through The Navigators Bible studies. Yes, you guessed right! Dave was the Bible study leader and our history started there.

Favorite Verse:

Our main verse for the ministry is I Thess. 2:8 "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us." We open our home to the Marines/Sailors and their families, so that they experience a Christian home atmosphere.

Dave and Hiroko Are Passionately Committed:
  • To The Great Commission: a passion for those who don’t know Christ (Mat 28:19,20)
  • To Depth of Discipleship: commitment to the third generation (2 Tim 2:2)
  • To Spiritual Multiplication: helping "the little one become a thousand" (Isa 60:22)
Support Needs:

We are supported by individual people who give to help us minister to the Military personnel. We do not receive any benefits or money from the Military for our ministry. We are responsible to raise our yearly budget.
